MARGARET JANE JONES

Margaret Jane Jones writes for children. Summer on the Sun-Up , Christmas on the Sun-Up and Springtime on the Sun-Up are works of historical fiction based on a way of life the author lived as a child growing-up on a ranch in Klickitat County in the State of Washington. Her lively years of teaching children at elementary school level add insight to her writing.  In Wild Perfumes from a Winter Wood, a picture book for children,  Ms. Jones writes the story in verse based on a true-life trek into the forest to find a Christmas tree in the Great North Woods of New Hampshire.  Her illustrations bring her books to life.

Ms. Jones is a graduate of Washington State University with majors in both education and the fine arts.  Her early travels and work in the Middle East add flavor to her points of view. Years of teaching in the states of Oklahoma, Virginia, and Florida bring inspiration to her work, as do her experiences teaching abroad in Yorkshire, England as a Fulbright Exchange Teacher.

During summers in New Hampshire, the author climbs mountains and hikes hidden wilderness trails with her husband and family.  During the winter months, she lives with her husband in Florida where wild rabbits play in the yard.
